Green bonds
In mid-2016, SBAB became the first bank in Sweden to issue a green bond, and has since been a recurring issuer. A green bond actually works just like a normal bond, the exception being that the funds raised are designated for environmentally or climate friendly projects. By purchasing green bonds, investors can be involved in financing projects that are sustainable.
How it works
The funds SBAB raises through our green bond issues are used to finance or refinance residential properties that meet a number of predefined criteria. The terms for lending and the conditions for issuing green bonds are described in more detail in SBAB’s green bond frameworks ("SBAB Group Green Bond Framework 2024” and “SBAB Group Green Bond Framework 2024”).
